GETTYSBURG, PA – On Sep. 16, I was interviewed live on FOX 35 Orlando for an update about SpaceX preparations to launch the 14th test flight of their Super Heavy/Starship rocket as soon as next week later in September.
Interview done while I’m on vacation- today in Gettysburg PA
SpaceX is awaiting FAA approval for the launch from their Starbase, Texas facility.
Update Sep 25: Approval for Sep 28 launch just obtained
SpaceX Starship test flight 14 is scheduled to be the first Starship upper stage to actually go into orbit – rather than follow a suborbital trajectory.
A 6 orbit 10 hour flight is planned – if all goes well
The rocket includes numerous upgrades to both stages.

Caption: SpaceX targeting another Starship test flight: The next phase of Starship is expected to begin soon. FOX35’s Garrett Wymer spoke with Ken Kremer, Managing Editor, Space UpClose on the latest details surrounding this on September 16, 2026
Both stages will attempt soft splashdown landing – respectively in the Gulf Coast for the first stage and Pacific off the coast of Chile for the upper stage
Starship will deploy about 26 Starlink V 3 sats. They are 10x bigger then the current V2 version.
However – no cryogenic propellant transfer test is planned for their contracted NASA human lunar lander – not good in my opinion!
Cryogenic propellent transfer from Starship to Starship is required to fill the tankls with enough fuel to carry a human moon landing mission.
About 15 cryogenic transfers is required for one Starship human lunar lander for NASA’s Artemis plan to land humans on the moon on Artemis IV as soon as sometime in 2028
