NASA KENNEDY SPACE CENTER PRESS SITE, FL- Shortly after NASA’s groundbreaking new space telescope, namely the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, I was interviewed by Fox 35 Orlando about the launch, what its was like, and the goals and science planned for Roman – on site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Press Site on the Florida Space Coast.
Roman is NASAs next powerful space observatory – following in the footsteps of Hubble, Chandra, Swift, JWST and more.
Despite a gloomy weather forecast, the skies cleared overnight and NASA and SpaceX successfully launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope at right on time at 7:26 a.m. ET liftoff on Sunday, Aug. 30 from Launch Complex 39A on NASAs Kennedy Space Center, in Florida.

We discussed how Roman will work in tandem with NASAs Hubble and JWST Webb space telescopes feeding in targets for focused science observations on dark energy, dark matter and discovering exoplanets.
The Roman Space Telescope offers wide field look at the universe in search of dark energy and dark matter and hunting exoplanets beyond our solar system in infrared light – complementing JWST, the James Webb Space Telescope
The powerful Falcon Heavy will propel the observatory requiring a powerful rocket to send it more than a million miles from Earth to the L2 Lagrange point.
Roman will have a field of view 100 times wider then Hubble and will gather data 1000 times faster
Roman will gather about 1.4 terabytes of data daily
Roman is named after NASA’s first chief astronomer and first female executive – Nancy Grace Roman
She advocated for space telescopes and is also referred to as the “Mother of Hubble”
