KENNEDY SPACE CENTER/TITUSVILLE, FL – I was interviewed live on FOX 35 Orlando on 6 April 2026 about NASAs historic Artemis II moonshot mission and todays history making 7 hour long flyby of the moon by the crew in their Orion spacecraft named Integrity – during their 10 day test flight mission.
The 4-person international crew from the US and Canada will be venturing farther into space than any human before as they complete a lunar flyby and slingshot around the far side of the Moon culminating this evening with closest approach to the Moon at 7:02 p.m. ET while hurtling onwards to begin the journey back home to Earth.

They will also observe a total solar eclipse starting around 8:35 p.m. ET lasting for nearly an hour for the first time from space

The crew of Artemis II are now on their way to the Moon! – commencing an exciting history making voyage that makes them the first humans to leave our home planet Earth since NASA’s Apollo 17 moon landing mission in Dec. 1972
The approximately 10-day slingshot mission began with liftoff on April 1 atop NASA’s SLS mega moon rocket propelling them of on a trajectory around the Moon and back for the Artemis II crew comprising NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen.

Their voyage to the Moon was approved after the Orion spacecraft check out perfectly after 1 day in Earth orbit clearing the way for Mission Control in Houston to gave the go ahead for the TLI or Trans Lunar injection burn at 7:49 p.m. ET the evening of April 2 – which was successfully completed.
